I live near Chicago in the USA. My mother was a Melia from Drumany.I have a house next door to the Leyden family home in Drumlitten. I visit approx twice a year and knew Vincent well. I would like to be associated with the kind comments made about Vincent. He did me several favours during my trips to Drumlitten. One example I would like to share with you was last year I was anxious to be able to turn the water off at the mains to the house. I had no idea where the stopcock was located. I searched high and low without success when I spotted Vincent at his farm where he was engaged feeding his cattle. I drove up to the farm and asked him if he had any idea where the stopcock was located. With that Vincent dropped everything he was doing at the time, got into his vehicle and drove down to Drumlitten crossroads with me and proceeded to try to find the stopcock initially without success. He got a shovel from his vehicle and after about ten minutes digging found the stopcock which was buried under a load of soil. I could tell you other stories about the kindness of Vincent. My wife and I are devastated about his passing and will miss him a lot. Drumlitten will never be the same for me after this.
