Fenagh 125 Gathering
Our celebrations will take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend with a host of free events honouring our long and rich club history and the theme of the Gathering. Friday 2 the weekend with us going back in time to the 1930’s with open air music and going with the theme “Dancing at the Crossroads” John McCartin and his musicians will be on stage with special guests so get your 1930’s gear on and good hard nail boots to dance the night away. We will also have a very special showing of our local Scor talent. This will be a very special night, a night NOT TO BE MISSED. Saturday 3 another free open air concert when our own Brian McGaughy will be performing on stage. There will be special presentations on this night to honour all our club members in recognition of outstanding achievements. An Open Air Mass of remembrance for all members of St Caillins GAA club, past and present, will be celebrated by Fr. Tommy Greenan (former club player) in the Abbeys on Sunday morning at 12.30pm. Afterwards the Handball alley will be officially opened followed by an exhibition game. All Ireland Champions Robbie McCarthy from Westmeath and
Cavan’s Michael Finnegan will take on Connacht Champions Mayo’s Joe McCann and Dessie Keegan in a Doubles match. Festivities will continue in Fenagh village on Sunday afternoon from 5pm when we host our “125” barbeque, a family fun day with activities for young and old, live music, banter and craic. Fenagh, Gorvagh, Glostermin and Drumany schools will be represented in Tug of War, Wellie throwing and other events so may the best team win. On stage that night will be the dancing fiddle player Dermot O’Connell and his band, a great County & Western night, so get the cowboys hats and boots out and take to the floor.
Fenagh Alley Official Opening
Official opening of the alley on Sunday August 4th at 2.00pm. There will be an exhibition game with the current All-Ireland 60×30 Senior Champion Robbie McCarthy from Westmeath and Michael Finnegan from Cavan playing the Connacht Champions from Mayo Joe McCann and Dessie Keegan. Walk for Talk
A Fundraising 6K Walk for suicide awareness and prevention will take place
from Cloone GAA Park to Aughavas GAA Park this Saturday 27 July at 2pm. Registration will take place at Cloone Park at 1pm. Fenagh Community Playgroup
Fenagh Community Playgroup is now enrolling for September 2013. We cater for children aged from 2 years 10 months up to 5 years. We also provide places under the ECCE scheme. If your child is going to school in September 2014 and born between 02/02/2009 and 30/06/2010 they are entitled to avail of the FREE pre-school year. If you wish to enrol your child you can call into the playgroup which has relocated to Gorvagh Community Centre or phone the playgroup leader Ceara on 086 3593244.
Fenagh Visitor Centre
Fenagh Visitor Centre is open all year round – (Heritage Centre, Indoor Children’s Play Area, Dolmen Café, Hall rental/meeting space). Opening hours this week: Monday July 29th to Friday Aug 2nd 10.00-5.30pm and Sat/Sunday Aug 3rd and 4th from 12-5.30pm. Heritage Week – Aug 17th-25th
Heritage Week takes place from Aug 17-25th throughout the country. We will be running a series of talks, demonstrations and other activities to showcase Fenagh’s rich heritage, history and culture during that week.
