Fenagh Handball Club Development Draw
Fenagh Handball Club Development Draw will take place on Sunday next 31st August in the Abbey Bar Fenagh. First Prize is €1000. Tickets can be purchased from any of the handball committee at €10.

Seamus O’Rourke performs in Fenagh Community Centre
Seamus O’Rourke will be performing on Sat 27th September in Fenagh Community Centre at 8:30pm with a play that has been written by Seamus O’Rourke called “ Padraig Potts Guide to walking”. National Community Games
Well done to the Handball team who captured a bronze medal at the National Community Games Finals. The team were Caolan McDermott, Eoin McLoughlin, Cormac Scollan, James Wrynn, Sean Kelly and Andrew Kelly. Well done to all the athletes from Fenagh who competed in the National Community Games last weekend. They were Katie Guckian in the U-8 80M; Tom McKeon in the U-14 100M; James Honeyman in the U-14 800M; James Wrynn in the U-14 Hurdles; Josh McNabola in the U-14 Shot Putt; Fergal McLoughlin in the U-14 Long Jump; Riordan O’Rourke in the U-16 1500M; Kyle McNabola in the U-16 100M and Ellie O’Rourke who was on the U13 Mixed Relay team.

FENAGH COMMUNITY PLAYGROUP
Fenagh Community Playgroup reopens on Monday 1st September at 9.00 a.m.  Best of luck to all the children who have left the playgroup to start school.  We are still enrolling for September 2014.  We cater for children aged from 2 years 9 months up to 5 years.  The Playgroup also provides places under the ECCE programme if your child is going to school in September 2015 and born between 2nd February 2010 to 30th June 2011 they are entitled to avail of the FREE pre-school year.  If you wish to enrol your child contact Ceara on 0863593244.

Fenagh Visitor Centre
Fenagh Visitor Centre is open all year round – (Heritage Centre, Indoor Children’s Play Area, Dolmen Café, Hall rental/meeting space). Opening hours this week: Monday to Friday 10.00-5.30pm and Sat/Sunday  12-5.30pm.  Free internet access (Wi-Fi), local newspapers and tourist information available to all visitors. Summer Parent & Baby/Toddler Group
The official Parent & Toddler Group has finished for the Summer and will resume in September.  The Centre is offering a Summer Saver Deal for all parents/carers/babies/toddlers on Thurs and Friday mornings 10-12pm in July and August – Kids 2 euro, Adults 3 euro. Refreshments served.

 National Heritage Week
Ballinamore Library is joining the National Heritage Week celebrations with a number of events taking place.  On Tuesday 26th August, there will be an “Old Crafts and Customs of Ireland” DVD being shown on the large screen at 8pm.  This wonderful film was recorded in the counties of Leitrim, Cavan, Roscommon and Fermanagh in the 1990’s.  It features Traditions like Making Mud Turf, Hay, Ploughing and Pattern to the Holy Well; and Trades like Tinsmith, Wheelwright, Millar, Cooper, Blacksmith and Creelmaker.  On Thursday 28th at 8.30pm, there will be a lecture by the renowned local historian, Seán Ó Suilleabháin.  The title of this event is “Surnames of Leitrim” – learn about the popular Leitrim Surnames and about the variants of Surnames and how they came about. Finally, on Friday 29th, Ballinamore native, Noel Sweeney gives a talk “Ballinamore in the 1950s and 60s”.  This presentation will include a photographic slideshow with many unique and previously unseen photographs of the town and it’s people dating back to 1960.  So, why not join us for some or all of these free events to mark your interest in National Heritage Week.  If you require further information, please contact the Local Studies Library at 0719645567.
