Fenagh St. Patrick’s Day
Tuesday, March 17th 2015 at 2pm marks the 5th Parade in the tiny,
picturesque village of Fenagh.  This year, RTE have confirmed that they are
coming to the Parade so be prepared and have your best smiles on.  In
keeping with previous years, the parade will feature many floats, music and
entertainment for all ages.  Fingers crossed the weather is kind to us!!
We look forward to seeing you all in Fenagh, Parade starts at 2pm on Fenagh
Hill.  If you are entering a float (no charge for floats), please follow

Progressive 25 – Fenagh Handball Club
Progressive 25 continues this Thursday night March 12th  in Fenagh Community Centre at 8.00pm.  €500 Jackpot with nightly prizes.  Admission €8 with refreshments served. Winners of  Week 8 were S McLoughlin 8 games and J Gill  6 games after a playoff. Proceeds in aid of Fenagh Handball Alley Construction Fund. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Church Gate Collection
The Annual Senior Citizens Party Church Gate Collection will take place this Sat 14th and Sun 15th March at St Mary church, Foxfield and Gorvagh Church. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Fenagh St Caillins Club Lotto
Next draw takes place on Sunday March 15th with a Jackpot of €2650. Tickets will be available after masses in the parochial house on that weekend Your support would be greatly appreciated

Clothes Collection
Clothes collection taking place at Fenagh National School. Bags of clothes can be dropped over the wall at the school any morning up to Friday 13th March.

Fenagh Visitor Centre
Fenagh Visitor Centre is open all year round – (Heritage Centre, Indoor Children’s Play Area, Dolmen Café, Hall rental/meeting space). Mon to Friday 10.00-5.30pm and Sat/Sunday  12-5.30pm.  Free internet access (Wi-Fi), local newspapers and tourist information available to all visitors. Follow us on Facebook ‘fenaghvisitorcentre’. Fenagh fun and fitness for adults and children
Friday the 13th and 20th of March from 6 to 7pm in Fenagh community centre. Cost €5 for one person in family and €3 for anybody else who wants to attend in same family e.g. mother €5 daughter €3. Instructor Michelle Fanning 0879390980. Each class will be filled with fun exercises and dancing to music. All welcome to come along to these 2 taster days for the Craic and to socialise

On Thursday the 5th, Monday the 9th, Thursday the 12th and Monday the 16th of March, our Assorted Fitness classes will be taking place in the scouts den next to the complex and playground as the drama festival seating is in the hall. All other classes are on as usual in the Ballinamore GAA Gym for ladies Tuesday and Thursday morning at 11am, Wednesday at 6.30pm & 7.30pm. Also we have a social beginners fitness class Thursday at 10am and a men’s running and gym session Wednesday at 8.30pm both in the Gaa Gym. Lough Reane Flood Alleviation Works
The long awaited work to alleviate  the floods in Fenagh, around Lough Reane has started. Preliminary work on clearing the route for the channel took place last week. As weather conditions improve over the coming weeks it will allow machinery and supplies to get on site. Local residents and farmers welcome this progress and expect their lives and livelihoods to get back to normal soon.

Fenagh St. Caillins GAA have registered for the Topaz Cash for Clubs initiative currently running at participating Topaz Fuel Stations The club would be grateful if all club members and customers in the community could start to collect stamps on campaign cards available from local Topaz stations. You’ll receive one stamp once you spend €40 on fuel purchases. Completed cards can be handed into the club secretary. Thank you for your support.

 

Irish Conversation Classes
Irish Conversation classes which have been going well since they started a number of weeks ago will continue in the parochial house, Foxfield on this  Wednesday 11th MARCH  at 8pm. For further details contact Michael at 087 4340134.

Ceili Dancing
Ceili Dancing takes place every Monday Night in Gorvagh Community Centre on Mondays commencing at 8pm. Everyone welcome.

Training for Childminders and potential
Childminders ‘Childminding Quality Awareness Programme.  Training on topics of relevance to all Childminders and potential Childminders will take place on Saturday 7th and Saturday 21st March from 10am to 4pm in the Leitrim Development Company, Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim. The cost of this training is €10.

O Halleluiah!
This fabulous Leonard Coen piece ‘Halleluiah’ will be performed by the equally fabulous soprano Pearl Kielty at the Mohill based ‘Sweet Spirit Gospel & Country Choir’s concert under the direction of Mohill native Tish Dunleavy.  Tish on electric piano will be joined by Padraig Donohue of ‘Evening Star’ fame on drums and Sean Mahon(Rodeo Man) on guitar & banjo. Some new pieces along with the old favourites will be performed on the night.  Beneficiaries are: ‘Arus Carolan Patient Comfort Fund’, St. Manachan’s Outreach Special Class and ‘Goal’ c/o Noel Mahon Bornacoola. The show will take place in the Hunt Hall, Castle Street, Mohill (opposite Library) on Sunday evening 22nd March 2015 at 8pm sharp!  Admission is €10 and  includes a hot toddy!

Special Olympics Ireland’s Annual Collection Day  – Friday 24th April-  Volunteers Needed!
Special Olympics Ireland urgently requires volunteers in the Leitrim area to help with our charity Collection Day on Friday April 24th. Collection Day is the biggest annual fundraising event in aid of Special Olympics Ireland. The money raised on the day will be used to ensure that Special Olympics Ireland can continue to realise its promise of offering people with an intellectual disability the opportunity to participate in sport in their area. Spring Term programme
Want to learn new language? Irish Sign Language course will be available in Drumshanbo Vocational School. Irish Sign Language is a visual language, fun to learn and is official language of the Deaf community. To secure a places contact Mr. Aidian Mc Keon at the school 071 9640440. I wish to clarify regarding to “Irish Sign Language”, Irish Sign Language does not mean Sign Language through “Irish” it is through English. It is first language in Deaf Community and unique to Ireland same as America, England, France and other countries have their own Sign Language. Millennium Choir Concerts
The much awaited Millennium Concerts will take place in St Patricks Church Mohill on Friday March 19  and  St Mary’s Church Carrick on March 20. The programme has Sacred, Romantic, theatrical and popular music plus “ A musical Tour of the West of Ireland”.  There will be local soloists and the choirs of St Manchan’s NS and St Mary’s Boys choir Carrick-on-Shannon . It promises to be great entertainment.

Slimming World Mohill group takes place every Thursday night at 730pmin Planxty Maguires (upstairs).

Fun & frolics at Bornacoola Centre
It’s that time of year again when some suspicious characters get together under the cover of darkness, doing ….God knows what!!!!! Be assured they are up to no good……They are chanting lines, watching movies ….. All in the name of Drama! This year they have a thought provoking play that will have you laughing, crying and questioning many things. Rumour has it, that such is the dedication ( addiction )this motley crew can be found rehearsing at 8am each Sunday!!!! Spanish Conversation Classes
Like to learn Spanish? Something new has come to Ballinamore library!!!! Starting Thursday 29th January and every Thursday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, join Cristina, a native Spanish speaker and have fun learning a new language. No need to book and admission is free.

Ballinamore Area competition is scheduled for the evening of 2nd of March @ 6pm in Ballinamore Community School. Winners of that go to county finals on 12/13th March (tbc) in Ck-on-Shannon.
