COMMUNITY COUNCIL AGM MONDAY NIGHT
The first Annual General Meeting of Ballinamore Area Community Council under the new Articles of Association will be held in the Scout Den adjacent the Sports Hall on Monday night June 22nd at 9.00 p.m. Along with the usual business of such an AGM which includes a review of the activities and achievements of the year gone by there will be a detailed examination of public transport in the area and the prospects which include the long sought link to the Dromod Railway Station. The Community Council recently held a very constructive meeting with Camilla Kelly, Manager of Local Link Rural Bus Transport Service for Leitrim, Roscommon and Sligo. This meeting in Ballinamore was set up by Deputy Michael Fitzmaurice and attended by his representative Marty Ward. The importance of a local autonomous and democratically elected representative body such as Ballinamore Area Community Council cannot be over emphasised at a time when more and more decision making and resources are being sucked away to larger population areas. Under the new Articles all organisations within the six parishes covered by the Community Council are entitled to be represented at the Annual General Meeting and all should take advantage of this opportunity.
