Padre Pio Healing Mass
You are warmly invited by our parish community to join with us for a Padre Pio Healing Mass in Saint Patrick’s Church, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim on Wednesday 25th May at 7.00pm. The Celebrant will be Fr. Sean Kelly, Capuchin Priest from Raheny and a native of Ballinamore. Also in attendance will be Br. Nicola from the Friary in San Giovani Rotondo where Padre Pio spent most of his priestly life until his death in 1968. Pope Francis asked for the remains of Padre Pio to be brought to the Vatican in February as part of the celebrations for this Jubilee Year of Mercy such was the dedication of this great Capuchin Saint in the many hours he spent in the confessional. Many healings have been attributed to the intercession of Saint Pio and large crowds always attend the healing Masses dedicated to his life. Blessings will take place after Mass with the relics of Saint Pio, i.e. his mittens that he wore to cover the wounds of the stigmata which he had for 50 years. Everyone is welcome.

For the first summer in many years it is now possible to travel by public transport from Ballinamore to Dublin, spend a day on shopping or other business there, and return that evening. This has now become possible thanks to the Local Link bus service which Ballinamore Area Community Council have campaigned for over many years and which was finally introduced a number of weeks ago. A Local Link Minibus leaves Main St at 7.00 a.m. each weekday, including Saturday, and travelling by Fenagh, Gorvagh and Mohill, reaches Dromod Station in time for the 8 00 a.m. train which reaches Dublin Connolly Station at 10.00 a.m. The return train from Connolly at 5.05 p.m. is met at Dromod Station by the minibus and passengers who so wish are brought back by the same route with the bus reaching Ballinamore at 7.55 p.m. Free travel passes are accepted and the charge for other users is very moderate. Moreover, free travel pass holders who have difficulty getting to the minibus due to lack of transport should contact Local Link at 071 960437 for additional assistance. This provides a wonderful opportunity for free travel pass holders on those long bright summer days to access the Capital City and other locations and return on the same day.
