Local Notes July 15th

Pride of Place – Thank You
Many thanks to all who participated in Monday’s Pride of Place judging. The judges seemed very impressed with the community projects that have been achieved and the place looked great in the glorious weather. Special thanks to our Tidy Towns Committee and the men from the Rural Social Scheme for working round the clock to make sure the area looked so well, to the different community group representatives who waited patiently to greet the judges at their different locations, to Clodagh McTiernan for her poem reading during the presentation, the schoolkids and teachers who waited patiently to showcase their projects, Kayla Gill, Kate and Aoife Conefrey for their superb display of Irish dancing, Nico & Cristina Ginter and Reynolds family who played traditional music for us all afternoon, Kieran Conefrey and Patrick Curran for chauffeur service and stepping in wherever needed, Mary Beirne, Nicola Kearns and Clare Sharpley at the Visitor Centre for refreshments plus all the community who attended the presentation and afternoon’s activities. Fenagh will now represent County Leitrim in the Community category in the All-Ireland Pride of Place Competition with results announced in October
