Was Fenagh ever known as Fannet or Fannett? I want to come see where my ancestors were from but it says Fannett, County of Donegal. Could this be the area?
Lynda thanks for getting in touch. Our ‘Fenagh’ is in County Leitrim, the ‘Fannett’ you are referring to is in Co Donegal, further north from us – it is now known as ‘Fanad’ – a peninsula that lies between Lough Swilly and Mulroy Bay on the north coast of County Donegal. Click https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fanad to read some more. I hope you find this helpful.
Kind regards
