Fenagh Drama Troupe
Following the success of the last 2 years, Fenagh Drama Troupe are back this year with another production.  The play, “I’m the One for You” is a 3 act comedy written by Jimmy Keary. Produced by newcomers, Teresa Ellis and Bernie Flynn, the story centers on poor Gerry O’Malley, a widowed farmer who lives alone and has a cleaner who comes in once a week.  Unfortunately, the cleaner has taken a shine to Gerry and matters become very complicated as events unfold. With many recognisable faces from previous productions plus a few new ones, you are guaranteed a night of laughter in Fenagh Community Centre on Thursday 30, Friday 31 January and Saturday 1 February.  Tickets cost €10 and are available each night with curtains at 8:30pm.  

Progressive 25 Card Game
Progressive 25 continues this Thursday night January 23 in Fenagh Visitor Centre, starting at 8.30. League prizes, Nightly prizes and Jackpots. Entry €8 with refreshments served. All new players welcome. Proceeds in aid of Fenagh Handball Club. Last week’s winners were Willie Conefrey and Tom Tiernan with 7 games each.

Local Notes Jan 6th

Senior Citizen Party
A great day was had by all at the Annual Senior Citizen Party on Sunday at the Community Centre.  The lovely meal & evening refreshments were provided by CLaRA Catering, Fenagh & music on the night by Seamus Farrell who kept all dancing until late into the evening. There was an additional celebration at the event this year to acknowledge the community effort which led to the Pride of Place Award in November.  Seamus McLoughlin from Fenagh Development acknowledged all the local groups who participated in the judging day and also thanked all who co-ordinated the events which led to Fenagh being awarded Pride of Place in this national competition.  Thanks to Nico & Cristina Ginter & Reynolds family for the additional trad music session, to Tracey McLoughlin & team of local dancers who put on a wonderful display of Irish dancing, to all the volunteers (Orla McKeon, Hilary Greenan, Caoimhe McDermott, Aoibhinn Greenan, Saoirse Redican, Rose McLoughlin, Mary McHugh, Peter Kilkenny, Eugene & Kim O’Riordan, Adrian Redican, Noel Conefrey, Jeanette Beirne, Maureen McLoughlin, Patrick Curran, Teresa Lennon, Mary Kilkenny, Mary Beirne, Kieran Conefrey, Betty Doonan,Bridgie Dolan) who helped out behind the scenes and on the day and to all who donated spot prizes or gave donations.  A lovely celebration was had by all.

Baby & Toddler Group
Resumes after the Christmas break this Friday Jan 10 from 10am-12pm.  New members always welcome, no need to sign up, just come along any Friday.  Baby changing and bottle warming facilities available.  Refreshments served.  We will also continue with monthly Music & Movement sessions provided by Michelle & Ciara from Assorted Fitness for our babies and toddlers in 2020 – next one is Friday Jan 24.

Takes place at the Community Centre Sunday Jan 5 2020 at 3pm – invites have been sent out with RSVP of Jan 2 2020.  Anybody wishing to donate a spotprize can drop it to the Visitor Centre (Christmas hours: Closed Dec 24,25,26 & Jan 1.  Open all other days over Christmas 12-5.30pm).  There will be an additional celebration from 6.30-8.30pm at the party to acknowledge the community effort which led to the Pride of Place award last month – all our community are invited to this part of the evening to join in with our Senior Citizens to celebrate the award and enjoy the music and refreshments.  Any queries to 071 9645590.

Fenagh Handball Club ran a Christmas 25 Card Drive on Saturday night December 21st in Quinns Bar. First Prize: €100 Voucher sponsored by Donohue’s Supervalu was won by Jim Holohan, Second Prize: Gammon sponsored by Micheal Scollan Butchers was won by Robert Davis, Third Prize: Bottle of Whiskey was won by Sean O’Neill. The club would like to thank all the card players and everyone who bought a ticket. Your continued support is greatly appreciated. Progressive 25 recommences on Thursday January 9th in Fenagh Visitor Centre at 8.30.

Local Notes Dec 3rd

Pride of Place Awards
Fenagh represented Co Leitrim in the Pride of Place Awards last weekend in Co Kilkenny following the judging day back in July where we showcased the different community groups and projects achieved in Fenagh. We were delighted to be awarded runner up prize in the Community Category which is a great achievement for a small parish at national level and a wonderful nod to all our hard working community groups and volunteers.  Trophy and plaque will be on display in the Visitor Centre.  Well done to all involved

Santa’s elves have been very busy recently getting the village ready for the visit of the Man in Red himself.  Santa will arrive in Fenagh Sunday Dec 8th at 5.30pm to switch on our Christmas lights and will give out presents to all the girls and boys in Quinn’s lounge afterwards – all welcome, please come out and support our local switch on and give Santa a big welcome.

Mohill Come Dancing Club continue their dance evening in Fenagh Community Centre this Thursday Dec 5 with dancing from 9.30pm.

Christmas Sale & Bazaar
The Annual St. Mary’s Parish Sale and Bazaar will be held in the Hunt Memorial Hall, Mohill on this Friday night, Dec 6th at 9 p.m.  Sale of Gift Items;  “Lucky Dip” Stall; Cake Weight Guessing and Numerous Raffles for a great variety of top-class prizes – Christmas Cakes; Turkeys; Spirits; Vouchers; Wines; Household Items; Soft Toys etc.  Tickets are currently on sale for the Main Draw which has a Prize Fund of 600 Euro. All support on the night greatly appreciated.

Free home insulation
Free home insulation is available for families in receipt of Domiciliary Care Allowance where their home was built before 2006. Free home insulation applications for fuel-poor households and grant applications are available through Leitrim Warmer Homes for pre-2006 built homes. The free scheme and grant scheme covers attic, cavity wall, internal and external wall insulation. Local Notes Nov 25th

Fenagh IFA
The AGM of Fenagh IFA will take place Wednesday Dec 4 in Fenagh Visitor Centre at 8.30pm.  Voting for the IFA National Elections will take place at this meeting and a member of the Executive will be in attendance

Progressive 25 Card Game.
Progressive 25 continues this Thursday night November 28 in Fenagh Visitor Centre, starting at 8.30. League prizes, Nightly prizes and Jackpots. Entry €8 with refreshments served. All new players welcome. Proceeds in aid of Fenagh Handball Club. Last week’s winners were Pat Prior 7 games and Teresa Ellis 6 games. Jackpot now at 7 games.

Fenagh Community Playgroup
Fenagh Community Playgroup wish to thank everyone who contributed to their Church gate collections at Foxfield and Gorvagh Churches.  Your support was greatly appreciated.

Festive Lights
Santa’s elves have been very busy recently getting the village ready for the visit of the Man in Red himself.  Santa will arrive in Fenagh Sunday Dec 8th at 5.30pm to switch on our Christmas lights and will give out presents to all the girls and boys in Quinn’s lounge afterwards – all welcome, please come out and support our local switch on and give Santa a big welcome.

Flower Arranging Class
Our annual Christmas Flower Arranging class will take place Wed Dec 18 in the Visitor Centre at 8pm– bring your own supplies or florist will have some available to purchase on the night.  10 euro entry.  Refreshments served.

Parent & Toddler Group
Continues every Friday 10am-12pm at the Visitor Centre.  The group have organised monthly Music & Movement sessions for our babies and toddlers – all welcome, no need to sign up just come along any Friday morning. Active Age Table Quiz
Fenagh Active Age Group will hold their Table Quiz on Tuesday Nov 26 at 8pm in Fenagh Visitor Centre.  Table of 4 for 20 euro.  Refreshments served and raffle on the night.

Foroige Youth Club 
There will be an information night for parents and volunteers in Fenagh Community Centre on Tues Nov 26 from 7.30-8.30pm.  A Foroige representative will be in attendance on the night with a view to getting a club up and running again in Fenagh.  All welcome – please share among parents who may have young people interested in getting involved. 

Go For Life Fitness Programme for Older Adults
Leitrim Sports Partnership Go for Life Games continues Mondays 11am in Fenagh Community Centre and runs for another 2 weeks. Open to all older adults in Leitrim. Dates are 25 Nov, 2 Dec. All welcome – free admission.  Funded by Leitrim Sports Partnership
