After a long absence from the book shops “Light on the Horizon”, Andy Redican’s second book of stories is back in the shops. It can be purchased in Fenagh Visitor Centre. Readers will be delighted that “Light on the Horizon” is back in the shops. With nineteen great stories, set mostly in Co. Leitrim in the 1940s – 1990s. this is a book to savour and enjoy. For older people it will back happy memories. For the youth it will open windows of wonder, shining a light on the times of their parents, grandparents and great grandparents.

RSS Remembrance Seat
The RSS remembrance seat was officially unveiled in Fenagh New Cemetery recently by Minister of State Joe O’Brien. This seat was prepared by Leitrim Development Company RSS participants in memory of their colleagues Oliver Doonan, Sean Lynch and Sean Goldrick. The seat also demonstrates the skills of RSS scheme participants and their contribution to the community.

There will be a clothes recycling collection in St. Caillin’s N.S. on October 29. Please donate all your clean unwanted clothes, bed linen, towels, curtains, shoes, bags, belts and soft toys (no duvets or pillows please). Please drop off your bags during school hours or after school hours, any day before October 29 or drop off inside the school wall any time. Every bag counts

The group are back to weekly meetings with a new focus on enjoyment and sociability. Our first meeting was on 21 September when the group put forward ideas for future events and activities. Ideas included a quiz night, exercise classes, bookclub, art classes, a daytrip, and line dancing. From now on we will be meeting up on Mondays from 3 – 4.30pm in Fenagh Visitor Centre and would welcome any over 55s in the area to come along and join us. To join just drop in to the Centre for the meetings or if you would like to have a chat about what to expect you can call Margaret on 0872349005 or Sean on 0872319628.

Baby & Toddler Group
If you are interested in getting involved in restarting Fenagh Baby & Toddler Group please call 071 9645590 and leave your details – the group normally ran on Friday mornings 10-12pm pre-Covid and was a great way to meet other parents over a scone and cuppa while the babies and toddlers socialised.

Leitrim Volunteer Centre wish to recognise, value and show its utmost gratitude to the many people who volunteer and have volunteered in our county. After an 18 month break the 25 card game resumed last Thursday night in the Community Centre. The winners on the night were Pat Prior and Niall Scollan with 7 games each. The Autumn/Winter league and Jackpot commences this Thursday night September 30. Game starts at 8.30, €8 entry fee with refreshments served, new players welcome.
