Local Notes July 13th

Fenagh Visitor Centre
The Coffeeshop at the Visitor Centre reopens to the public Tuesday July 21st for the next few weeks – the Children’s Playarea remains closed as we follow health advisories.  Opening hours will be Tues-Sat 10am-4.30pm .  As we are adhering to Covid 19 protocols things will be slightly different – we will be operating a one way system, either takeout or table service in place with a reduced menu, max 20 people at any one time in the main hall to adhere to social distancing and other Covid 19 protocols in place.  We are delighted to be opening our doors again, please follow directions, our aim is to keep visitors and staff safe at all times. The main hall is also available for meetings outside of public hours in a socially distancing manner as is the Community Centre – contact for any bookings is 071 9645590 or fenaghvisitorcentre@gmail.com.

Fenagh Mass
Mass has resumed in Fenagh church.  Fridays 7pm, Saturdays 7pm and Sundays 11.30am. The dispensation from the Sunday obligation to attend Mass is extended for the time being.  Anyone who is vulnerable or uneasy about gathering in an enclosed space should not come to the church and might continue to participate in Mass through television or radio. With social distancing of 2m between people not from the same household, the capacity of the church is greatly reduced.  For the moment there is a limit of 50 on the number of people who can gather indoors.  For this reason, some might consider attending Mass on Friday evening rather than on Saturday evening or Sunday morning. There will be ushers at each Mass to direct people to available seating.  Volunteers will clean the church after each Mass.  Your cooperation and understanding in this will be greatly  appreciated.  Our aim is to open our parish church for worship in a way that is safe for all. Holy Communion will continue to be distributed on the hand only. Please note that Cemetery Sunday will not be celebrated this year.

Graveyard Donation
Anybody wishing to donate to the ongoing upkeep of Fenagh graveyards this year may do so by leaving it at the Visitor Centre or using the Donate tool on www.fenagh.com.  A staff member is currently at the Centre Mon-Sat 11am-1pm with those hours changing from July 21st to Tues- Saturday 10am-4.30pm.

Sympathy
Deepest sympathy is extended to Sonny Redican and family, Drumroosk North on the recent death of his brother Keelan Redican in Luton, England.  Also sympathy is extended to the Kavanagh family, Fenagh on the death of their brother Oliver.  May they rest in peace

Pre-third level IT course Drumshanbo Enterprise Centre commencing in September
For the attention of all Leaving Certificate students and parents.  In the face of all the uncertainty in the third level sector, especially in relation to accommodation in the cities, you may be considering taking a year out, staying close to home and working. This would be an ideal time to complete the IT course in Drumshanbo, you will be using Microsoft Teams, Class notebook and Moodle which should mean you will be well equipped for dealing with blended learning (combination of online and traditional classes) in college, which will undoubtedly be a feature of all third level courses in the future. The course also offers an opportunity to use PLC points to get into Universities as well as the vast majority of ITs. Places will be offered to learners who are suitable for the course based on the date we receive the application online. Applications are being accepted online by registering with fetchcourses.ie and search for course code 282532.  There will only be 20 places on the course.  Any queries email phyllisheduan@msletb.ie.
